Country Star Porter Wagoner Dies At 80

Porter Wayne Wagoner (August 12, 1927 – October 28, 2007) was an American country music singer. Famous for his flashy Nudie suits and blond pompadour, Wagoner introduced a young Dolly Parton to his long-running television show. Together, “Porter and Dolly” were a well-known duet team for many years. Parton wrote the song “I Will Always Love You” after Wagoner suggested she shift from story songs to focus on love songs.

Football Hero Max McGee Dies At 75

William Max McGee (July 16, 1932 – October 20, 2007) was a former professional American Football wide receiver who played for the Green Bay Packers from 1954 to 1967. He also served as the team’s punter during a few years of his career. Before his National Football League (NFL) career, he played for Tulane University. He was selected by the Packers in the fifth round of the 1954 NFL Draft. He played his high school football in White Oak, Texas.
