Country And Western Singer Henson Cargill Dead At 66

Henson Cargill (February 5, 1941 — March 24, 2007) was a country music singer best known for the 1968 #1 hit, “Skip a Rope”. His family was active in politics and raising of buffalo on a ranch outside Oklahoma City. Later, he had a television show, Country Hayride, and performed for many years in Reno and Las Vegas. Johnny Cash was godfather to his oldest son, Cash. In the late 1980s he retired to Oklahoma City and died March 24, 2007.

Letterman’s Bud Melman Dies

Calvert DeForest (July 23, 1921 - March 19, 2007 [1]) was an American actor and comedian.

He is credited for 4 films from 1972 to 1982. [2] While he was working as a file clerk at a drug rehabilitation facility, he was “discovered” by people associated with David Letterman’s show when he appeared in a New York University student’s film. [3] Later he worked as a drug rehabilitation counselor. However, his job was mentioned on air and he said it made it more difficult for him to work effectively as a counselor, forcing his retirement. However, he continued to make appearances with David Letterman.

R & B Singer Luther Ingram Dead At 69

Luther Ingram (November 30, 1937 — March 19, 2007) was an R&B soul singer and songwriter.

Born in Jackson, Tennessee, his songs appeared in the pop and R & B charts, even though he worked for a small label, Koko Records, owned by his manager and producer, Johnny Baylor. Koko and Baylor were closely associated with the Memphis-based Stax Records label during the height of its commercial success.

Director Stuart Rosenberg Dead At 79

Stuart Rosenberg (11 August 1927 – 15 March 2007), was an American film director. Among his more notable works are Cool Hand Luke, Voyage of the Damned, The Amityville Horror, and The Pope of Greenwich Village.
